Some of you remember or have seen that I quickie modified a stock slant to haul my Jeep in.
Got serious today. Took it to my friends metal shop where we chopped out the slant wall. It now sports a straight wall with a bunk area over where the hood will be.
Still needs some insulation, paneling etc. but the metal work is done. I moved the wall further forward and raised the bunk area over initial plans due to the larger dimensions of another Jeep

    Started with this IMG_20240207_093239075_HDR.jpg IMG_20240207_093248848_HDR.jpg

    All chopped out.

Just needs some rigid foam, a heater, a window on the driver side of the bunk to check on the jeep. Winch point. Soo many possibilities!

And around here you need a hitch on the trailer bumper to pull the fishing boat.

My parents got an aluminum Featherlite stock trailer. Not the strongest against a 3000lb mad Angus bull but definitely a good match for a tamed CJ.

What is the height of the rear opening on the trailer and would you recommend a ramp or barn door?

This is a Sooner heavily built. I recommend a barn door , some of the ramps are questionable. It was a 3 horse slant, 18' on the floor ( still a 2 horse slant with storage under the bunk or for a mini horse / donkey :D) All aluminum, extruded floor. 7' at the lowest point of the door frame.
It's low enough to the ground I just throw a HF screwjack under the rear and drive in on a pair of plastic car ramps ( bonus if you need to work on it) I can drive out without them and drive in without if backed up to a hill.
I can do 80 with the Jeep loaded up no problem. Once you've pulled a gooseneck or 5th wheel you swear off bumper pulls.

Nice use of some wasted space and making a single purpose trailer into a dual use one.

Wrapped up! Scavanged a furnace and power converter from a junk camper. Reinstalled the water tank, added a 12v pump, have an on demand cowboy shower in the back. Insulated the interior. I'll finish the interior this fall. Deep cycle battery and 20lb propane tanks. Cassette pooper, only for emergency, no more hotels.

Check now and make sure the 7pin charges the camper battery and if it drains the truck when parked.
