Another thing about Gunk. The gallon cans with instructions to mix with kerosene stated that the engine needs to be 100% dry because even the smallest amount of water greatly diminishes its effectiveness. So perfectly dry before first application, then a long wait after you rinse it off before you can use it again.

When I use gunk I usually apply, then gondo something else for rest of day, occasionally retreating just enough to keep it wet. Day or so later mechanically remove as much slime and grime as I easily can, repeat a couple of times THEN rinse. Remaining caked on grime will need to dry throughout before trying again. Thats why I delay rinsing.

If you want an inexpensive way to warm your garage, I'd look at a propane heater, I've used them to heat my Conex when I have to work in it in the winter, can be bought new with cylinder of propane for under $100, it probably won't be a sauna but it will be a lot more bearable than 10 degrees. Good luck!

I think I require a demonstration before I even think of dropping coin on another "super degreaser" in a trigger sprayer bottle. [IMG]

Oven cleaner is phenomenal. I spray it on, it foams, I wait a while (15 minutes +/-) to let it work in a bit (but not long enough to let the product evaporate/dry off) and as soon as I agitate it lightly with a plastic bristle brush, the brush gets chocolate brown with muck. It's disgusting. Then I hose it off (although for oven/indoor use it says to wipe it with a cloth). It might take a second application for the heavier areas; seems like it was extra thick around the bolt holes (the bolt acts as an physical anchor for additional crud).

Super clean and a hot pressure washer.
I rented one and it worked really well.

A regular duty pressure washer, hooked to the water heater drain , adds hot water to the mix.
Always had good luck with gunk.

You gotta be careful with this, a regular pressure washer relies on the cool water going through it to keep the pump from overheating. Supposedly if you run hot water through it in can ruin the pump as it wasn't designed for the heat.

I actually had it hooked to the hot side of my cloths washer hookup, it was closer.
And my heater is turned down to energy savings mode.
But I did not know bout harming the pump, never too old to learn.
