When did amber bulbs come in? My '57 is clear lens/clear bulb. His is a '58.

    nickmil In mothballs.

I don't remember the year but it's a DOT regulation to have marker lights on the front be amber. Not original to be sure. Probably when the amber plastic front marker lights started being used. I put amber bulbs in the front of my '59 because I got tired of being pulled over by the police.

At least in my state, as "originally equipped" is legal to drive. My Willys truck had only one tailight, in ten years no one ever hassled me. Same is true today on my '34 Ford pickup.

But my question was, and to clarify for the OP, when did Jeep factory equip CJ's with amber bulbs?
