1965 CJ-5 windshield vs. hood

My 65 had a hard top which I am not running. The hood, when raised rested against the top of the windshield. I bought two of the metal brackets with the riveted canvas pads so the hood rests on them when raised or when the windshield is lowered. Isn't there supposed to be something to hold the windshield down or up? On the inside of the hood, maybe a foot from the front is a backing plate with threaded holes side to side (footman loop spacing?) Toward the rear there looks to be a place where two side to side holes have been welded shut (same spacing). Nothing is apparent on the outside surface of the hood. Jeep has been re painted. On the windshield frame there are two threaded holes in the center (same spacing).
What am I missing? Three footman loops and a strap? Or was there some sort of latch mechanism? Where can I get one?

To hold the hood up there should be a spring loaded latch mounted center top of the ws that grabs a loop mounted to the middle of the hood.

To hold the windshield down there should be a strap connect to a footman loop welded just off-center towards the driver's side inside top of the ws, the strap goes through a footman loop on the hood.

Here's a previous post with pics of both-

Try a search on windshield AND latch or "windshield latch" for more examples.

There was a latch on early models to hold the hood UP. It was a spring loaded hook at the top of the w/s. It catches a tall retangular loop on the hood.

With the w/s down, a canvas strap and buckle were used, mounted at the w/s center, on the inner face. It is welded on at a slight angle, behind the mirror. A footman loop on the hood anchors it.

Ooops, Howard beat me to it.... Listen to Howard.

OK, I bought the latch. What about the other parts like the tall loop?
