the paint will dry at those temps just really slow, and durability may be affected.

Heat-resistant paints have come a long, long way. The previous owner of my Honda dirt bike painted the header pipe silver and it shows no indication of flaking off or discoloring (knock on wood). No idea what paint it is.

You can certainly help the curing process along by placing a small space heater next to the painted parts & letting it run for a few hours... or sit out there with a heat gun blowing on the parts back and forth. Then, take a few seconds and blow some of the heat on yourself. :D

I've had good luck with Rust-Oleum High Heat paint. This is what I used on my headers when I built them 7-8 years ago. They look the same today as when I installed them. Although I used the black color they also have it in silver color.

I used vht exhaust manifold paint in silver on mine. Cured them on my bbq grill as the wife wouldn't allow me to use the main oven. Still perfect after 5 years.

Ceramic coatings on exhaust components is the ultimate. But I am not aware of any DIY versions of the real stuff. Jet Hot did a head pipe for a friends motorcycle. Never discolored. Another advantage is the ceramic coats the oustide AND inside so keeps the exhaust charge hot, fast, and keeps the metal itself cooler so headers last longer. Header tape is best way to burn out headers. Dont use on anything you want to last.

When I painted my engine I degreased with Gunk and lots of hand work. Then cleaned with some detergent. Probably 50/50 Simple Green and hot water, kept at it until the rinse water wetted the surface instead of shedding like a duck's back. That's how you know its free of all oil and degreasing residue.

I used VHT brake caliper paint for my Weber Q200 rebuild this summer. Worked out great.
