Varg In Jeep's Clothing

No snorkels, no hood scoops... this is just a stock Jeep that will never see high speeds or tough trails.

At first glance it reminded me of a toyota.

 

I used to run a Donaldson oil bath from a CJ mounted inside on the rear bulkhead of my VW Baja bug. I ran a 2" pvc pipe to near the carb, then connected with an accordian flex.
Bugs are tight vehicles, and I could pull a pressure drop and pop my ears when running with the windows up while running over 65 mph. It was a bit noisy behind the rear seat!

Cruising the Volvo forums... came across this guy running the same block as this, just with the twin cam head and nitrous.

My daily two hour allowance towards this just flies by.

I got the pieces for this air box cut out. After I traced the pattern, I re-assembled the cardboard templates and measured the angles so I could write the numbers on the corresponding bend marks.





With the air cleaner in place:



Now that the corners are tacked and the inner frame is in place, I can massage the bends a little to fine-tune the joints before welding it up.

 

It’s actually 2# lighter than the suitcase that Volvo used.
