For all you mechanics out there, what is the best way to identify the tappet that I am hearing???

On the 225V6 I remove the valve cover to the noisy side and with the engine running at idle, I hold the rubber handle of a hammer on the rocker tip over the push-rod and push down. That keeps the slack tight and will quiet the culprit. You won't be splashed with oil. It's not a chevy.

Side valve cover in block. You might need some tappet wrenches to adjust the lash. you're also going to need a feeler gauge to adjust. You really need the FSM and read how to do it. I havent done this in almost 20 years. As I recall, you can do it without the engine running. Turn the crank adjust one, turn some more adjust another, etc. they also rote 1/4 turn every time.

I am sure there are guys on here who can explain this process better.
