The snorkel cut out was there until '66-69...

It was a hit or miss thing...

The snorkel cutout ended early in the '66 model year. Cary, I believe you have a '66 without the cutout?

My first '66 Tux did not have the cutout, but my current '66 does. I have seen some '67s. The replacement '69 hood I got to replace my damaged hood did not have a cutout, but had holes and threads for the plastic hood reflectors...

    This is back in '69-70s...

In some examples, sprockets are used as couplers, one on the PTO, and another on a driven shaft. A short piece of duplex chain couples the two sprockets together. This is likely not the case in your photo because of the nut retaining the sprocket, but I had a flat-fender for parts many years ago that had two sprockets coupled together on a PTO.

IMG_1543.JPG Brackets in the back of a 56 cj6. On both sides of the back of the bed. Are these rear sear brackets or something home made? Thanks. Paul

I would, say as you suspect those are rear seat brackets.

Are the holes threaded? That would sure save a lot of effort.

What is the purpose of this hole (the one with the crack)? The hole is in the vertical panel behind the driver's seat, toward the center of the tub. This is on a '68 tub. I don't think the PO made it because the holes he did make were rough-cut with a torch.

Can you post another picture zoomed out a bit?

I'm not sure of the purpose, but my unmolested 68 tub has a 1 3/4" hole there with a metal plug in it...the slightly domed type with the little spring loaded fingers on the back to hold it in. Typical sheet metal or firewall plug.

"What is the purpose of this hole..."

Passage for fuel line on M38A1 military, held over on civilian tub.

A reminder of your jeep's true heritage.
