Headlight Upgrade

    Stay away from the OEM JK lights (if you really want some I'll send you my old ones just pay shipping), I replaced them with Hella H4's ECode in my JK the OEM ones stink, they are that bad Jeep should be embarrassed for even putting them in. The H4's were a great improvement in my JK, I have 7" sealed beams in my CJ and they are better than the OEM JK ones. For the best legal light output go with an LED light (DOT approved) like JW speaker or Truck Lite (KC has them too, I think they re branded Truck Lite Ones), yes they are expensive but if you spend a lot of time driving at night you'll appreciate them.

    Don't know anyone personally but the Hella Vision Plus HB2 have been getting some good reviews.

    Absolutely agree. I drive 22 miles into town around 5am every morning. Saw 60-70 deer this morning, and that's just the ones I could see. Driving lights are a huge help. Still hit two or three every year.

    About H4 housings, all of the ones I am familiar with have too sharp of a cutoff for my use. I see a lot of oncoming traffic on the hwy to town. If the high beams are aimed well, the low beams are pointed at the ground 30-40 ft in front of the vehicle.

    Aftermarket ones would probably be brighter, but these are free and more than likely way better than the sealed beam stock lights;)

    so I am confused...what can I run street legally in my 57? My current lights seem to have a slight yellow tint. I would love some brighter lights, without having to run my Lightforce off road lights when possible.

    I’ve been running replacement Halogens from Napa for 20 years with no issues. Much improved over stock, and were plug and play...

    A fresh set of Halogen sealed beams and some relays and you'll be throwing fire. The important thing to remember about sealed beams is that they will continue to operate even if the halogen gas has started to leak out, but you will get much less light. Get the relays on there and some new halogens and you have two benefits. First one is that you won't lose the classic sealed beam look (important) and the relays will give you full battery voltage at the plugs (super dooper important).

    I run with ipf 920H with halogen bulbs and relays. low beam pattern is low and wide with a very good "cutoff" so as to not affect oncoming drivers, never had anyone flick lights due to blinding. Now, on the other hand high beam is penetrating and could pose problem if you are negligent in shutting them down.
    I supplement by piaa 520 crystal ion fog beam for super wide close in lighting.
    For off-road the fogs plus headlight high beam is stellar.
