Straightened the windshield frame, replaced the broken windshield and then did this,
    [IMG]

So then I could fix this little crack
    [IMG]

Then I fitted new motor mounts, repaired melted air line for compressor and fitted some caster wedges.
Then I took it out for a spin, much better. Doesn't wander all over the place now.

Looked at her hiding in the garage, without her body, steering wheel or nervous system (wiring), Brake lines? Who needs 'em?. Longing to get out on the road.

tiny steps: bolted on a 100A alternator (12si), the fan and installed the distributor...

    Pondering a carb rebuild...

Waiting for Walck's shipment so I can finish installing the T98 conversion and the AA clutch chain...

    Itching for more time.

Got Ted's lift kit installed! Its a Rancho 2 1/2" soft ride. I like how my jeep sits now and it rides and flexes so much better. I had some sort of aftermarket springs before, but they didn't move at all.

Used my new metal-cutting saw and welded new corners into the battery hold-down on my '57.

Been meaning to get around to that for approximately 15 years.

I gave up on it. It became too radical and just wasn't fun anymore. Plus I was constantly fixing. The axles and transmission are in this jeep, which is way more fun now.

  8. Last night I scraped the mud off the oil pan of my 62 Willys PU's recently pulled out Super Hurricane and checked the insides. Surprisingly looked real good inside there. Shook the rods, nice and tight, cam lobes look good too. Filler blocks even look to be straight. This engine was rebuilt and the clock shows 62K, so I kinda confirmed my suspicions that there are not that many miles on the engine since the rebuild.

Plan to spend Sunday with the truck and I'll try to remember to bring the camera!

When to an International Scout trail event in the Jersey Pine Barrens. Lots of fun but washing Farm Jeep Willy for about 3 hrs is not fun.

In my mind, 60K was indeed generally about Rebuild Time back in those days

  11. My thoughts exactly. Sucks I could not get out there Sunday, other obligations reared up.

continued removing parts from it. almost ready to lift the body off the frame. seats out, windshield off, brake lines and clutch line disconnected, gas tank vent and filler loose. need to pull the rollbar, unbolt the body mounts, and remove the gear shift and transfer lever.

I'm going to start trying to convince my wife we need to put Mighty Mouse back on the road for summer ice cream runs. Preparations have begun. A friend of mine gave me a back seat, so I installed that and ran some XJ lap belts. I also swapped tires with my 3B. They are 13 year-old GY Wranglers, but they've never seen pavement.

    Wish me luck.

Ordered another rebuild kit from Quadrajetparts.com (2G kit 'R') so I can re-rebuild my carb (it was the point of water leaking into the motor while in my leaking shed). It'll get shined and polished again after a good soak in Berrymans followed by some jiggling in the Harborfreight heated ultrasonic cleaner.

Picked up two good motor stands from an auction. One doesn't have a head, but I have a pipe and a plate that should fix it... Rotisserie build coming. Also picked up a rolling cart at the auction, about 8ft long, 32" wide. With a little modification, I should be able to stack most of my jeep fenders, the Meyer top (disassembled still), etc. on it and roll in and out of the shed.

Setting up the clutch with AA adapter coming next...

Need to update my punchlist, the old one went out the door when I pulled every nut and bolt off of it for the ground up restomod.

The seed has been planted, and it's starting to sprout! After almost 2 years of ownership, my wife finally acknowledged this jeep exists, and she and the girls piled in for a trip "around the block" (5 miles). The kids liked the back seat so much, she couldn't say no. I'm going to get plates later this week!

I found out Sunday afternoon how well the hand crank windshield wipers work on my ECJ5. They are really not that terrible it would have helped a little bit more if I hadn't taken off the hardtop Saturday.

Let me tell you about the time my (ex) wife had just had her hair 'done' - and we ran into a thunderstorm… :(
