BDS springs all around, supposedly 2-1/2 inch lift; smallest I could get. But...I think the old springs were so flat my effective lift was about 4 inches.

What a difference new springs make!

Next go-round I'm going with smaller tires like that. I have 32-10.50 radial swampers. My swamper-era is passed. Looking for skinny all-terrains or old-timey mud-snow tires next time.

If you use it for Boon docking, NDCC tires are the way to go! Early CJS are horrible on paved highways, but good off road, that's their purpose! White side walls,it doesn't work on off road application!

    Hey Stout,
Is that the original red and do you have the color #? Thanks. Beautiful jeep.

Thanks I like the way it turned out.

It is close to Indian Ceramic, which was an original color. The PPG data base substituted the original color with "Fiesta Red" found on 55-57 t-birds.

I can get the specific info in a couple of days.

  7. When I was a senior in HS, i had a 73 CJ5. It was bone stock...side mounted spare, no radio...like that the wheels were the creamy white. So when I found the correct wheels for my "new" 73, I painted them the same creamy white color. Looks great.

Thanks much! Slow but sure on restoring bits that don't require a body off, or new paint. She needs a real body-off restoration, as there's rusting hat channels (some are gone) and bondo in places. The frame is solid if rusty in areas, even after last year's repairs so I'm driving her for a few years.

Next major project on her is the seats...I've got originals and now know the trim and a source of materials, so will try to make that happen over the winter.

Original looking seats will really bring it all together.

Great looking jeep, where did you get the repro rims from and what size are they?
