I rarely take my jeep farther than 30 miles from the house. I have an up coming trip this weekend. Even though its not supposed to rain I still like the idea of keeping my soft top with me. I purchased the biggest storage tote at Wal Mart and it fits perfectly in the back of my jeep, granted it doesn't leave room for much else. Anyone else use a similar way to store their top?

By the way, Im leaving the doors at home.

    Nice solution.

FWIW, a bikini top combined with doors tends to keep the back-wind (and road-spray) to a minimum.

is the tote for the doors? Or do you take the whole top off the bows? I usually just fold it back, and shove the doors behind the rear seat, but I'd love to see pics of a cleaner solution for when the rear seat is out

i use to wrap the top around the top bar, and using some bungee it hold together.

For side Windows they goes Under the rear set and for the door (not show) and put between the rear seat and the fold top.

Someday i will make a custom bag for it.

Tops are way too expensive to stuff it in a tote or under the back seat these days. At $900 I just stick to a bikini top if taking the full top off.

Bikini top in summer. Doors and windows are in the back standing up behind my small tote. Also keep a plastic tarp in the tote, but as someone already said install door and window drive and stay dry.

I roll the top around the bows and lay them back. My side windows don't zip from the main top ( Whitco purchased in 1978) the doors lay on top of the roll cage and held in place with the bikini top.

My top comes off in April, back on in October. Stays in the attic between then. Bikini top in the Summer.

Jeep tops get worn out by taking them on and off like a "convertible". Jeeps aren't convertibles. IMHO.

Like you, I rarely ever drove mine long distances or away from home for a few days, so my top & bows were stored in the garage.

This is not an option for driving, but I bought what is referred to a s a camping top. It is meant to keep the interior dry while parked. It is solid (no windows) and fits over the windshield & roll bar & pulls down over the door opening, 1/4 panels & tail gate, and has wide hooks that are placed on the lower edge of the body panels and snug it up so it won't blow off in a storm. I also used it if I needed to park it outside for a week or 2 while using the garage for another project. About 3 minutes to but it on or take it off. Worked great for my use.

I've only seen the partial covers for newer jeeps, where did you get the camping top?

I must say I can't remember. It was in 2005 or so and my memory isn't what is used to be.

I did a quick search & naturally didn't find it, but the link below to 4wheelonline dot com has a photo of a newer model Jeep with the same sort of top in a cream color. Scroll down & you will see it on the right toward the bottom of the page. Maybe you can contact them & they might have something similar.

I went back & searched my old posts & SHAZAAM, I found one about the top...unfortunately no pics.

I don't keep a top on mine so if it rains I have to put it in the barn...until I got the trail cover from Rain Gear. I dont have a photo of the Jeep with the cover on, but you can search "trail cover" on this site to see one from another member or go to www.jeepcovers.com. Fit around the windshield is a little small, but it keeps the interior super dry & with the cinch straps, it won't blow up or off.
