What Are These Bolts For On The Front Axle Of Dana 27a?

    front axle lub.JPG front axle lubrication.JPG see photos. I just finished lubing everything that had a zert fitting but the manual calls for lubricating the front axle and these are the only 2 places I see that could be used for lube....no zert fittings like in the rear.

    those are the steering stops. adjustable so the tires dont hit the springs. The lube spots are the big plugs 9/16" square like the tranny and t case plugs. It takes a very light grease search knuckle pudding its about the consistency of cv grease people use all sorts of stuff

    OEM spec was 80/90 gear oil, but a thicker mixture is less likely to leak out.

    thanks.....I did lube in the knuckles with "puddin" based on previous threads here so I guess I'm set. Appreciate the reply!

    The Differential takes a hypiod gear oil 80-90wt the knuckles take either home brew knuckle pudding (50/50 wheel bearing grease and 80-90wt) or 0 grade grease the most common of which is John Deere Corn Head Grease. Then the Bearings take good old fashion Wheel bearing grease.
