    This fire wall tag is on my 68 CJ5 V6 225 and all indications concerning the jeep say it is a V6.

    Any ideas??

    Have you considered the possibility that your v6 jeep with the V6 jeep tag is, in fact, a V6 jeep?

    I've probably missed some previous discussion about this...but is there a reason you feel its not a v6 jeep originally?

    Maybe the "S" stands for special order?

    My error I guess I thought it coded as a 4 cylinder

    The S is with emissions IIRC.

    Emissions correct. Did some research on where I got the idea it coded a cylinder. No clue. Motor stamped number is KNH 534.

    Just found where my error came from. It was in an old thread in which Howard Eisenhauer gave a code listing for serial numbers. I failed to take into account the deletion of digits 6 and 7!!!!

    11 digit vin seems correct for 67. Yours would not have the digits listed as 6th and 7th below.

    VIN Numbers

    81 = Universal CJ-3B
    83 = Universal CJ-5

    Anyone ever come across a "7105" prefix on a serial tag? And this is for a 1968 model year.

    What is it on? That sounds familiar but I can't place it.

    That is a 1968 4 cylinder tag.

    I know what it is, I just have never seen one before. It came on an M38a-1 tub along with the dash plaque that matches. Its a 1968 Canadian version, as in M38A1CDN2. I've just never seen a Jeep that begins with "71".

    On the same subject, I've go another odd prefix on a '64 Jeep. Has anyone seen "8203"? It misses both sets of prefix digits shown in the chart in post#8.
    I'll post up later to answer what the Jeep is, besides pretty rare.

    The 8203 prefix serial tag is on a cowl/firewall I have, from a '64 DJ3A Dispatcher hardtop. Rare, but not particularly desirable!
