Can anyone tell me what size the Dana 27 axle nuts are? 2 on each side. Look to be 2"? Need a socket that'll work. Also, what torque?

I can't remeber the nut size, but I only have 2 sockets that big in my tool box.
    36mm or
    1-11/16"

I want to say it's the 36mm. You can typically rent them from the auto parts store.

Copied from my Disc Brake thread...

Install the axle bearing per the FSM - "Rotate the wheel and tighten the adjustment nut until the wheel binds.
Note: Front tire and wheel must be rotated by hand as the adjusting nut is tightened to ensure positive seating of the bearing. Then back off the adjusting nut about one-sixth turn making sure that [the] wheel rotates freely without sidewise shake. Replace the lock washers and locknut. Bend over the lock washer lip
    ."

Tip - Use a mid sized cats claw or pry bar to bend over the washer...It feels like you might break something but it works just fine.

    Bowbender I'm workin' on it!

I have to admit, I've done the chisel thing too, but the socket is SO much more civilized.
I bought one like James posted.

I used a standard 2 1/16 socket. I think it was 3/4 drive. No clearance issues.

3 trips to the socket store burned 2 1/16 into my brain. Its 2 1/16.
