We don't care about your weather!

What better time to be chainsawing (and torture-testing) than in inclement weather? Did uncooperative weather stop fur traders and explorers on the Oregon Trail? Noooo.........

 

Okay, so I spent the day cutting down, cutting up and burning trees. Having a 10" bar, the small saw was primarily used for limbing and anything 10" or less in diameter. I was impressed. It fires right up and seems to have plenty of power to cut anything I threw at it. Here in Arkansas, it is mostly hardwoods and today was all Oak trees. These are not soft or lightweight. I'd venture to guess it would run just fine with a 12" bar as well...especially if you have softer woods.

Another nice feature with it being so small and top handle is that you can run it one-handed when needed...and I needed that several times today.

Anyway, over all I think it is a great value and wouldn't hesitate to take it along on the trail...it gave me no reason to doubt its ability or reliability

You test but protect yourself, helmet, grill for face and eyes, good gloves. We never know. I have 2 Sthil, a small one with auto starter, perfect, one hand work, and an electric one. Never any problem, some years already.
And for gardening 2 other Stihl tools, pro models, just need the special fuel to have a perfect start.
Cheap products you never know. Can last years or some weeks.
I have an old Honda lawnmower, 22 years old, works nice. And my good John Deere is working well since 2006. I just had to change the battery this year, more than 12 years of good service.
Security first. Cheap can mean risk.

So many rules. Guess I will go sit in the chair I whittled from a solid Oak tree stump with my pet Timber Rattler "Jake" on my lap, dry shave with my trusty hatchet then sip on my latest batch of home-made shine while I wait for you boys to settle on what the rules are for renewing my man card...

 

Rough crowd around here! I'm still using my little Echo ES300 that I bought "used" at Home Depot 15 years ago. I was in the Tidewater,Va area just after a rare snowstorm, and I'm guessing someone bought the saw to clear downed branches, then returned the saw for a refund. I paid $79 and it had orange paint sprayed over one side of it. It still had gas in it, so I fired it up, then bought it.
This little saw has been flawless, with only replacing many chains, and two cutter bars, and one primer bulb. I used this toy to cut up a large ficus tree that died in my yard, with a main trunk 6' by 8' around, with an 80' crown. I approached it the way you would eat an elephant; one bite at a time!

My friend bought a De Walt battery Sawzall, it works well for cutting the trail back, and cleaning up dead fall. Probably cost more that the saw you are talking about though. good Luck
