Bought this very nicely machined aluminium carb spacer off eBay. A bit pricey, but required to clear the choke linkage when using the oil bath air filter. It’s 1” tall and the inside bore is 2 11/16” to fit perfectly over the carb flange.
    Here’s the spacer installed.

I have been running without one for years, just that the cable would bind a bit because the cleaner was pressing down on it. Now it’s a ....smooth operator, lol
(Yes, that is a song line from an 80’s song, haha)

When your buddy had that made, we forgot to have him price it with material costs and labor. If it comes out cheaper than the milled eBay version then he and we all win.

He might have a little market for those on here and the fleabay....

My 1971 w/dauntless and dry filter uses that spacer o.e.m. I did not know that the oil bath filter required one. Guess i'll have to fire up the lathe and make one.

Does he vapor seal it? Coat it with urethane? Will that hold up to heat?

A few months ago I was looking into having the unoptainable breather hose for my 71 V6 3-d printed (the hose that goes from valve cover to dry air cleaner). Every comercial shop I checked with told me that the materials that they can use for 3-D printing would not work well for the application. What every rubberlike material they would be using would not hold up to the heat/oil/gasoline combination. If someone has experience differently I would love to hear it.

Finally had a chance to check the fitment. I still have to get the engine up to operating temperature and see how it holds up to gas and heat.

    Like a glove.

Had a chance today to drive around town with the adapter.

When I got home I checked the temp of the block, it was 225°, the temp of the headers wouldn't register on my little tester (just said Hi). The top of the manifold was 168°, the carburetor was 96°. I removed the air cleaner and the temperature of the adapter was 96°.

I pulled the adapter off of the carburetor and inspected for any type of fuel deterioration and nothing was visible. I'll continue driving around with it and checking it once in awhile. We'll see how it holds up.

    3D printed version is failing...:(

I used the jeep a lot yesterday. Something didn't feel or smell right. Last night my daughter commented on how the garage smells like jeep. Had an Aha moment this morning and inspected the adapter.
