My 74 steering seems tight, wheel bearings tight, ball joints good, but driving down the road it slightly jerks left and right just enough for me to correct the steering wheel in what ever way it decides to go. I have 31 tires on it. Could the tires be causing this? This is the first time for me to drive a CJ5 so I am not familiar with them My CJ2s never had this problem other than the "Death Wobble" which I repaired. they both have standard tires on them. Any suggestions on where to look for problems? It has a stabilizer on the steering, not sure how to check that for the problem.

    Tires new and balanced correctly?

    Caster is off?

These jeeps do require a bit of steering input driving down the road but it shouldn’t be to the extent that you are describing it.

Could be caster, could be toe-in, check the front end alignment.

Power steering? I've never had the "control" valving in a Saginaw cause a problem but if it was partially plugged it would likely cause what you are experiencing.

All of the above. Also check spring shackles and u-bolts both front and rear.
