Clutch Job Time Lapse

Installed a new clutch in my jeep this week!

 

wow . it takes me two days to do it

 

It takes me 2:26 hrs just to psych myself up to take the first bolt out.

 

That was fun.

 

It took me two weeks just to get the flywheel turned!!!!

 

Thanks guys! Here is the jack I used. It’s just a harbor freight scissor jack. I your my impact gun to run it up and down. It’s a life saver. It handled my T18’s/d18/overdrive without too much trouble. That’s a heavy combo probably 250lbs. It doesn’t even notice a t90/d18 combo. I couldn’t have done it without it. I used to have to install all 3 pieces separately and just used a floor jack and elbow grease. What a pain! It added at least an hour to the job. And I would ways have to buy a new overdrive snap ring. I think I paid $80 with a coupon for this jack. Well worth it! 450 lbs. Low Lift Transmission Jack

 

I lucked out with that. My friend referred me to a shop about 35 minutes from my house. I called him Tuesday night and he said “stop by Wednesday morning.” He did it in about 20 minutes.... he even let me hang out and watch/take videos. It was an old school engine shop. And he only charged me $25! Really nice guy!

I have to remove my transmission to fix the clutch. The first step in the FSM is, "Drain the transmission and transfer case...". I didn't see you do that in the time-lapsed video. Were you able to avoid that step and not have fluid pour all over the place?

 

I don't think I ever drain either?

 

Correct, I didn’t drain anything. If you don’t remove the transfer case you really don’t have to. Just don’t tip the transmission over if you take the shifter off.
