Not to mention, you don't know the quality of the fasteners sent to you. Most are probably Chinese and just barely "stainless". I like sourcing my bolts as I need them at my local ACE hardware or Lowe's. I've done it for years with no problems.
I don't care for stainless fasteners anyway, unless you put never-seez on them, they can be worse than carbon steel.

All of the rust shown in post #13 has been painted with Chassis Saver. As well as most of the underside outside the frame rails, I didn't get all of the wheel well just the back side of the arch.

I have ordered cover panels for the wheel arch and the rocker, I plan to cut and remove the embossed "eep" and replace it from another cowling. HOWEVER, ....... as noted in my Off Topic thread, my daughters Escalade needs another motor, and that will push the Jeep out of the garage. I've found an engine in Nw Pa. for $600 and I will be pursuing that on Monday. I have also agreed, :susp: on Tuesday, to replace a heater core for our pastors son's 94 Roadmaster:shrug:

So this may get pushed to page 2 or 3 before I return to my main project.

Noram Auto Body Parts 15120-R Replacement Steel Rocker Panel with Lower Cowl (Passenger Side) for 55-83 Jeep CJ-5

I was considering the same. The reviews of the product said they were too thin, but for these intermediary repairs they should be fine. I do plan a full restoration soon and I will be removing rusted areas and replacing them with 16awg patches.

thin but serviceable, i left about a 1/2 inch or so of the original under the patch part and skipped around welding till it was all welded in. and plug welded where it met structure. the jeep lives down the road a little sits outside hasnt rusted yet been three years since i put them on it.

Sure it can. With a new body and a galvanized frame. Then don't drive it in the salt. Keep a newer throwaway vehicle and feel good preserving your Jeep History while not feeling bad at all rotting out newer vehicles. Lol

Well,..... my parts arrived from Quadratec...... I ordered 2 pass side panels, and got a front pass and a rear arch for the driver side.:(
So I called tech support, they said they would try again. and took $5 off. I can't see shipping the driver side back as I was going to do it later anyway.

Had to get the Jeep out of the garage to work on my daughters car. But the power steering pump in the Jeep was dry, and the floor was wet. :susp: Filled the pump and moved the Jeep. I checked the hoses and they were OK. but the front of the pump was dripping. This is an AGR super box 1. I went looking for a rebuild kit or seals but cannot find any. The pump works fine it just leaks. I paid $265 in 1999 it now costs $556
Anyone know if the seals are replaceable?

After looking at several youtube videos, the front seal and orings should be doable without completely tearing the box down. IF I can find a rebuild kit.

Well....... Steerco bought AGR in 2015. Very nice response from them, but no help to me. I can buy a reman saginaw for $160

    "From AGR
Its hard to say what has failed without looking at it but likely a bearing has worn causing the shaft to not be centered in the seal. I have only owned the company since late 2015 and know there has been some changes in design that the old owner did not document production dates on so I can’t predict what seal or bearing it might be without taking it apart, Im sorry. My standard rebuild is only 295.00 and shipping is only 18.00 anywhere in the US. Of course it will also come with a new warranty!

Still up in the air about the P/S pump, paid $265 for the AGR new in 1999.
But I spent most of the time since the thread started putting the truck engine in my daughters 2000 Escalade. Good news, it is in and working :bananatool:

On the Jeep I got most of the pass side rust cleaned and painted with chassis saver. I didn't get any cover panels put on. Trailer got the landing legs shortened and a 2"receiver attached, as well as undercoating with fluid film. I also installed a diesel heater and put on an electric jack.

It's now time to head west :ninja:
