Any body have any great recommendations for either product? They will be used for bracketry removal and various other Jeep projects. I did some research and it's hard to tell what is marketing hype and what actually works. I'd like some opinions from the people actually using them for what I'm going to use them for.

For Sawzall: primarily 1/8-1/4". Looking for a balance of speed of cut and longevity vs price. Is Carbide worth the extra money for mild steel? I don't mind paying more if it cuts fast and stays sharp longer.

For cut off: Is one wheel better than another for sheet metal vs 1/4". What brands do you like?

I've used dewalt brand sawzall blades and cutoff wheels for awhile now.

The sawzall blades bent easily but cut fine. The cutoff wheels, however, seem to work really well and last a long time.

I've heard good things about benchmark abrasives. The fact that they are an American company and they sometimes have free flap wheel deals helps!

    Lenox also make excellent products.

I use both Lenox and Milwaukee. Not any real difference I can detect but there are different blade offerings for each. The local lumber yard had a really good sale on Milwaukee a few years back and I probably have a life time supply.

I used to had some Alpha brand 1/16” x 4” cut off wheels. They were the absolute best.
Would essily outlast every other brand by 2 to 3 times. Made every other brand look like Omix Adda.
Wish I could find some more.

I seem to have better luck with Lenox than anything else. Might just be in my head.

I used to buy really quality cutoff wheels that would last forever, but I’d find I’d drop the grinder or pinch the wheel or it would grab or.... and the wheel would often get damaged long before it was used up. I started buying the Harbor Freight 10-packs when they’re on sale. They’re definitely low quality, but I’ve never had one fly apart on me, and I don’t feel bad about chucking a damaged one. I’ve gone through hundreds of them in the last few years.

Between testing videos and replies here it looks like lenox is the winner for the blades. Now to find a good balance between cheap and long lasting cut off wheels.

For cutoff wheels and grinding wheels I have found Walter to be the best by far. I push hard and they cut fast and last pretty long. I have found others do last longer but don't cut as aggressively. I prefer Milwaukee blades for the Sawzall but I also like Dewalt and Lenox.

I use benchmark abrasives for cut off wheels and flap discs. They're a bargain compared to paying $3 for a single cut off wheel locally.

Wow, those aren't cheap. Have you found anyone that sells singles? All I can find are 25 packs.

I buy them buy the big pack. They are expensive but they really work well. I like the grinding wheels with the bumps on them. Walter flexcut 15-L 453

3m green cut off wheels pricey but out last any others I have tried one green wheel =three or four economy ones. Sawzall is a wood tool around here and gets Milwaukee or Diablo demo blades. Truthfully don’t use the cut off much now as the plasma cutter is way faster.

SAIT/United Abrasives work well. Also PFRED seem to be good.
Milwaukee torch blades are nice. I get them long and you can flush cut with them. I hate the carbide toothed blades a lot. The grab and vibrate on long cuts. I hate them a lot. I grew to really hate them when the orange store was out of all blades but them and i needed to cut an entire van apart. My hands still hurt.
