Went on a little adventure today to look at two bantam trailers advertised on market place. About a 40 mile trip . IMG_0622.JPG hooked up with seller. Way out in the pucker brush. First trailer was pretty rusty and was going to need a lot of restoration work. On to number 2. This was looking good .No visible rust other than some pinholes. Came to an agreement on price then it was back to the nearest Tractor Supply for a Pintle hitch. Got the hitch and a little more cash from ATM. I was a little nervous about towing it home not knowing anything about the bearings and old tires.Away we went (wife was riding shotgun) . Stopped after a few miles to check hubs.Everything was good so on we went for home. Very happy about this purchase that will be a good winter project. I had a BANTAM a few years back and sold it then sellers remorse set in. Glad I was able to buy this one. 16" wheels and luynet (sp) hitch .Has the landing leg. It was a good day. mike

No tags present front or rear. Any guess what year by the wheel size and hitch.Don't really care just wondering if that hitch style was common thru the years. My first one had a ball coupler. Feel free to school me on this trailer. thanks, mike

That's a later bantom tc3 based on the sheetmetal tailgate surround. It should have a ball coupler.

    What joe said x 2 !
Someone must have added the military lunette to your civvy bantam.
Looks to me like a 47 or 48.
Need see certain details to narrow it down.
That’s just one clue as to what you have.
It also has the KH HD 5” wide military wheels.
So it probably has the Bantam M100 military sized 7.00 x 16” tires ?

The other bantam they have is still for sale on marketplace. Colton,Oregon. near salem and portland. May be a start or for parts./ I have seen guys on here do a lot with less. It has a ball coupler and a i.d. tag on front. needs rusty panels replaced mostly. there was a lot of junk piled in bed so i couldn't get a good look at overall condition.

Ya go figure .Hard to say what was done over 70 years. My goal is to clean up the warts and do the bearings and seals new lug studs and powder coat wheels and a pair of tires. Try to find safety chains and hooks (on the way from e-pay nos surplus).Tail lights and wiring. mike

Appears that maybe the lunette is off a 1 ton bantam trailer. Not stock for sure but i think i will like the extra length away from tow rig.
Also probably won't get a lot of guys wanting to borrow it because of the pintle hitch. mike IMG_0625.JPG

I am confused about the various wheels, please describe what details/clues tell you the 5" width?? I did notice the two trailer wheels are a little bit different, both are non-creased, but the 'weep' holes are in different locations. Does that matter? If not why not?

The KH wheel basically consists of 2 part; the rim and the disc.
KH used non creased discs prior to about 1956,
KH used various thicknesses of rims and discs on various wheel assemblies.
The disk used on 4-1/2” x 16” wheels are 8 gauge.
The disk used on HD 5” x 16 wheels are 6 gauge.
I have no proof but I believe the small drilled hole near the bolt circle was simply used to identify the HD disk from the standard 16” disk.

    4-1/2” x 16” = 19 pounds
    5” x 16” = 24 pounds
