Rocker Arm Cover?!?

I have ‘59 Willys Jeep CJ-5 with F134 by its vehicle serial number despite VT registration stating’60. Body looks to have been replaced with I’m guessing’74 body given the stamped Jeep not JEEP on side panels, side markers
and an air vent in the cowl. A friend and I were looking at the engine yesterday and both were scratching our heads with regards to the rocker arm cover (picture below) having a hose coming off the top and running down between the fire wall and the voltage regulator splash pan. In any pictures that we could find in any manuals there is either no outlet showing on the top of the rocker arm cover or there is Oil filler and breather cap over an outlet pipe. My. Over simply has a hole in it that this hose is set into.
Any input would be appreciated thanks guys!

Image isn't showing due to low # of posts. Sounds like you have an earlier rocker cover.
If your dipstick tube has a hose running to the oil bath you can plug the rocker cover hole. If your dipstick tube does not have a hose you will want a filter of some sort connected to the hole in the rocker cover.

    Thank you.

My dipstick tube does have a hose going to oil bath. So will consider plugging. Could this hose coming off the top of the rocker cover be causing me any engine trouble?
I seem to be having an issue with fuel pump (new glass bowl type) emptying causing stalling and hard start ups?! Starts fine cold and idles nicely.
    Any clues???

I can see the image. Probably need to go back and make the album public instead of private

I’d be happy to do that but I can’t seem to find where to do so!?

On each album, click the little box at top left. ( On the album) It should bring up a menu. Scroll down untill you see change privacy options.

Let me know if that works for you.

When I tried to open the image I get the error "You do not have permission to view media within this album."

I can answer this question without seeing the picture. Since you have a vent from the dip stick tower plugging the rocker cover vent won't hurt anything.

The fuel pump emptying has nothing to do with your PCV system, the probable cause of this is likely an air leak in the fuel supply line.

Proper fuel supply would be a hard line from tank to frame horn with a flex line across to the pump, and then a hard line from pump to carburetor. If you have rubber fuel line spliced in with clamps those are prime suspects for leakage.

The screw clamps pinch the rubber hose. If there are such splices you can try adding an additional clamp with the screw on the opposite side. This sometimes will shut off an air leak, but should be viewed as a temporary solution until the fuel supply can be put back right.

Does anyone see the picture in my post? Not the original post#1?

From what I can see it looks like someone ran a draft tube off that rocker location. There are 2 different pcv systems on these. Other than that, that's about all I know on that. Mine doesn't have that hole.

As far as picture permissions, Tim may have to set the public status?

I think I corrected the status issue. Very “Novice”question but why would there be a necessity for a draft tube?

Thank you I will check this and I will post later some images of current configuration. I have had someone else suggest that perhaps there should be a vent in new tank and to test run by keeping the gas cap off to see if situation changes.

Didn't know how to set it up the way it's supposed to?

Should have a vented gas cap, not a vent in the tank.
