Now I remember hearing years back that the cj5 was tippy in the corners.. Now this truck that I have should be on a 112" wheel base. It is now on a 81" wheel base.. How tippiy are they?? Just like the frame is 29 1/2" across on both ends, while the Ford frame is almost twice that. Are they tippy??

They can be tippy, depending on the suspension flexibility. Heavy duty springs help cure that, to a certain extent. High center of gravity, narrow axles and a flexy suspension, yes can be tippy.

How about sway bars?? Would they help??

What did they shorten on the truck to cram a truck that has 112" wheelbase onto an 81" wheelbase. You need to post a picture of this thing so we can see what your up against. Does it look like this?

I wish.. Go to www.wilsonclassiccar.com go to sales. about half way down the page you will come to a 1937 Ford pickup parts truck with a snow plow on it for $1,200. It is mounted on the jeep cj5 frame. It has a white body, and green fenders..

:? Looks a lot longer than an 81" wheelbase. CJ6?

Gotta be a CJ6, picture of back end shows it has a draw bar. Aluminum plate extends down to it.

Actually looks pretty cool! I'd leave it as is. :)

Yeah, when ALP introduced himself we tried to figure out whether it was a CJ-6 or not. Could be a stretched CJ-5 frame as well.

I didn't keep up with that thread, but definitely could be a stretched 5.

Well a brother of mine was in that area on business, and stoped by to see it. Junk has a better look than that. It shouldn't even be sold for parts. I am going to try and get out of the deal. I may have paid the money, but havn't gotten the Bill of Sale. The fenders were cut up to fit the frame. the cab corners, and evn the cab was pushed down in order to fit over the frame. The frame still sticks out past the front fenders. How that frame is even used is beyond me. Another thing that gets me kind of mad is the fact if you go to there website, and zoom in on the window of the truck. The price is near $300. cheaper than what I paid for it. No they can keep the truck.. ALP

Well after thinking things over.. Even if he doesn't take the truck back. I will set the fenders, and cab better on the frame, and do a buildup of what I have. I may have to shorten the frame by 6", but widen it by some here and there. I may weld extra tubing under the cab for more support. I,ll know better tomorrow after the dealer sees the email I sent him.. Otherwise I will fix it up leave the 4x4 in it, and sell it..ALP
