YJ Wrangler springs in CJ suspension project??

    I have also been looking into this lately. You can do the hydro assist for about $250.00. So, hydro-assist cost less, and works better. I am curious what made you change your mind. Apparrently the hydro assist is so much more efficient that most people do not even need a cooler.

    You already have yj springs installed. The Rubicon Express Extreme Duty 4.5 you have now is the yj swap. It comes with front and rear 2 ½ springs with conversion shackles and spring plates.

    The kit you have should ride well I would recheck the torque on the shackle bolts to make sure their not too tight. About 20ft lbs should do.

    Nope,
    the front springs are 2 inches wide, just like factory CJ. I bought this suspension in 1998, but it must be the new Extreme Duty system that has the newer Wrangler springs. Regardless, the new suspension is only costing me 50$, plus the SRS and some new axle U-Bolts and u-bolt skid plates/spring plates.
    Once I get the power steering in and weld in the cage over Christmas vacation the new yeard project will be the suspension.

    For now it's a budgetary thing. The power upgrade with the AGR box and HD tie-rods and ball joint flip will be a huge inprovement over the current manual steering and will be a great platform for upgrading to the hydro-assist later on when time, cash or the need to tweak the Jeep further come along.

    Well Hell!!!!!! Looks like projects off!!
    Co-worker came in today with the "Suspension Lift" he was gonna sell me. Carried in a 10x10x10 inch box filled witha brand new,,,yep, you guessed it,, body lift.monkeys ( in his defense he really isnt an automotive type,,let alone a Jeeper).
    So ,, no new YJ springs to work with. I have already checked out the local CL and will hit e-bay as well, but looks like Im not gonna be doing this suspension as planned (at least NOT on a budget).
    I will most likely (99)%) still go with the SRS, but stick with the RE CJ springs and maybe fab some long travel shock mounts to try getting things to limber up.

    I do have this question,,,
    Is this swap to YJ springs such a dramatic and positive improvement that it still would be worthwhile to spend a couple hundred bucks on the springs???
