Overdrive and new noise

    Hello.

I installed the Adv. Adp. Overdrive (new) in my CJ-5 with T90 and Dana 18.
I follow all the instructions and it works good for me while driving. Oil level is o.k.

I know every noise coming from my jeep for about 25 years. With the new O.D. i hear new noise.
I will try to describe that noise as a constant 'whisper' like i hear another wheel is working in my gearbox. It gets a little louder when i put in the O.D. .
It is not the sound of two metals scratch or something like that. (with my poor english i call it noise but it is not a real noise ...).
Is it normal to get a new noise when going with a O.D. ? I want to stay with the sound and noise i got used to for years.

(dont say to contact Adv. Adp. as they answer in several days delay or no answer at all).

    Ziv

Don't think I've ever heard a "new" noise when using the overdrive,,,,,, maybe the lower rpm's while using the OD are allowing you to hear more noise you wouldn't have before

I get a whizzing or whurring type noise from mine. I always figured it was just the OD doing its job!

I've driven 2 Warn OD equipped Jeeps extensively, and both have a definite whine in OD. Just something you live with.

For OD related tech and parts that you may not get here, contact Herm at hermtheoverdriveguy.com - he rebuilds and sells them.

Kinda like the first gear whine of the T90. Just part of the early jeep experience!

Could it possibly be the oil pick up tube of the overdrive rubbing against the planetary drive gear assembly ?
