Why are these so hard to find?

??? Why? Using correct vintage parts is an important part of a restoration! If someone just wants a horn for their Frankenjeep, any horn will do. But for correct restorations the right one is best! It's important for people to know that someone else may be looking for that item that they're heading for the trash can with.

I made the effort and managed to find a correct '56 CJ5 horn on a '56 CJ5 a local guy was parting out. It's in a box in my garage, just waiting. I scored a LOT of good parts off that '56, including the best tailgate I've ever seen.

You know, if you're needing one, contact Harry Sheets at Midwest Willys. His prices may be high, but he retired and went into business salvaging old Jeeps of all kinds. Parts, he has 'em. But his prices reflect the scarcity. He may be open to trades though, ya never know. If you have extra things that he could add to his inventory and sell to someone else, he might work with ya. I'd love to go visit there and poke around.

Midwest Military is only about 3 miles from my house and I've never been in the place. Driven through the parking lot on a weekend with my son looking at the old military trucks he had out front though.

I think people are just trying to convey that this site is proud that it maintains a friendly and flame-free attitude, and that the tone of your posts may be stretching that limit.

OK folks I'm as much responsible for any missunderstandings here as hardknox, my apologies to all & any for any miss-understanding.

We've now both made our apologies so lets just chill out, relax, learn from the experience & move on with the subject at hand- obtaining/replacing/repairing stock tootelators. :)
