Leak from horn wire hole

On my 69 CJ5, V6, PO had removed the horn wire and covered the hole in the bottom of the Ross box with something that looked like JB Weld. Wanting to run the horn wire, I removed the JB Weld and all the oil in the Ross box immediately ran out the hole. The metal tube that the wire runs through turns freely and definitely isn't secure.

I'm looking for advice on how I can seal the hole with the wire running though it so I can get my horn to work again. Do you think I could squeeze silicone caulking into the hole and around where the tube is inserted? I'm not sure if the oil would eventually cause the caulking to separate from the metal. I'm interested in any other ideas you have to seal the hole or how others have dealt with this.

That box needs to be repaired.

Or plugged up and run exterior wires to a button some where. My horn button is mounted below the turn signal on the bottom of the shaft where I can get to it easily.

I repaired mine with a section of steal brake line and jb weld. Been three years with no leaks.

Jackfunkhouser, any additional details you can give me on how you made the repair? Did you pull out the existing tube and replace it with the steel brake line. Also, did you flare the end of the brake line?

I gave up and wired up a button on the dash for the horn so the jeep would pass inspection.

Any up date on your horn wire fix?
Did you follow jackfunkhouser's advice with the brake line?

My plan is to rough up the surface and use JB Weld putty and see if it will hold the tube and seal the leak. I'll post the results when it is done.

I removed the existing tube. The brake line was flared at the bottom where I attacked it to the steering box. I left the tube long enough to be above the fill line of the Ross steering box.
