Thanks to all for the recommendations for timing and jet setting for my 1966 Jeep (225 v6). We put the jeep on a trailer behind the RV headed for Colorado. We spent 3 days in Rocky Mountain national park in Colorado. The jeep did fine until it got above about 11,000 ft , could tell it was rich but kept your foot in it and it did fine. I had the jets with me but for no longer than I was there it was not worth changing out. I had planned on hitting one of the jeep trails but after having my young kids ( 9 and 10) being uncomfortable on the old trail ridge road up to the alpine visitors center we decided it probably would not be fun for anyone!!! After leaving we went to the Mt Rushmore area and played around there for 3 days with the Jeep as our touring vehicle. We put almost 400 miles on the jeep and it is now being designated as our vehicle to take on the family vacations. It is great you can park it anywhere and don't have to worry about door dings ( the nerf bars stop that ). I will probably upgrade to disc brakes and dual master cylinder at some point.

This is exactly what I planned to do with my Jeep, bring it to a nice touristic place and use it for small promenades/trips.
I did it long ago with a Citroen Mehari, and with a friend's Willys.

Small trips in south of France, go to the beach, the village, visit the area.
Long travels are boring, difficult to talk.. But visiting at low speed, stop for swimming, etc... it is like having a small boat on a coast.
No problem with bad tracks, parking, etc...

    Just need good weather.

    You made the perfect choice.

We did the Jeep thing with the 72 CJ5. 258 with 3-speed trans.
Bought it in November, 1971, used as a daily driver and vacation machine.
Put 66,000 miles on it in 4 1/2 years.
Used with a 13 ft. travel trailer.
Visited the whole country and most of Western Canada.
Never a problem with overheating or altitude sickness.

Thanks for the compliments it was a lot of fun. Amazing how many people commented on the jeep when it was parked. The short day trips are fun in it I would not want to make long trips in it. Glad to hear others are using theirs too!!!

Alan28 I like your pic looks like fun!!!
