After 30 years she runs again. I ordered the exhaust system from waldrons so once that comes in I will run her at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes and do the break in. I didn't want to let it idle too long before doing that

I like it, but I'm troubled that the tail pipe doesn't seem to extend past the rear tail panel.

John: Here is a shot from the factory illustration supplement. It should answer both of your questions: 1. Which way does the muffler go?; and 2. The make-up of the tailpipe hanger.

Let me know what you figure out, as I will (an probably many others) need the same thing.

    Hey John,

Have you taken any video with the waldron exhaust on? I'm curious to see how it sounds as I'm looking into that system myself.

She fired right up and purred like a kitten. I ran it at 2000 rpm for 20 minutes for the break in and it performed perfectly. Sounds loud on video but it was pretty quiet, no tapping or knocking. Only 2 issues, rebuilt alternator was not charging so I took that off and took it back to get checked and I found my oil pan has a pin hole in it. Probably from sand blasting it so I need to find another one of those, but pretty happy with the results

This is what I came up with for the tail pipe hanger. Found a nos hanger and 2"strap clamp. I just need to clean them up and make the 90 degree bracket that fastens to the crossmember

Looking good, in the early stages of restoring my 1970 cj5 dauntless. I live fairly close to you, can you recommend the machine shop you used?
