Mid 60's Mirror Styles

    Looking for some info on mirror options for mid 60's Jeeps.
    The long cane style was the most popular I'm assumingusually mounted to the lower drivers hinge
    . Also used on early Gladiators as well I think.
    Some of the mirrors were round 5 inch. Some were rectangular.
    Originals were not adjustable I believe. After markets are.

    Only two styles I'm aware of- round mirror on a straight arm & square one on the bent arm that came along in, IIRC, '68.

    Both mount to the lower windshield hinge.

    Either style is available in reproduction from the usual suspects & are easily closely duplicated with generic pieces from FLAPS's.

    Mid-1960's, at least from '64 through around '67 had a 14 1/2" (hole to hole) non-adjustable straight arm. There was a 5" round mirror, and this mounted on a bracket attached to the left lower windshield hinge. I believe the '63-prior used the same setup, only the bracket mounted to a flat on the side of the cowl sheetmetal. On Tuxedo Park models, the mirror, arm, and bracket were chrome.
    It seems all of the re-pop mirror arms are the adjustable style used on military models.

    My measurement is from the through pinchbolt hole at the windshield hinge end to the through bolt of the mirror stud, arm only.
    The Tux Dave pictured has the correct mirror and arm.
    I haven't seen Walck's re-pop, but it looks like they got it right.

    I bought the Walck's one and it comes black painted. They say that the chroming is of poor quality from the overseas supplier and they put a coat of black paint on. I haven't tried to remove the paint yet to see the condition of the chrome. I will this weekend and post before and after pics.

    Donny, is that same mirror correct for my '66 Tuxedo? Don't know if I can deal with that lightening rod. :D But, I'm trying to make it correct so, I might have to.....if I can find a nice. No re-pop stuff for me.

    Thats a mirror arm from an AMC intermediate CJ. I had a '72 with that same arm that had a larger rectangular mirror hanging on it. I think some Postal DJs used this arm too.

    Oh ok. Thanks Donny.
    I was thinking of buying it for my Gladiator actually. And mounting a rectangle chrome mirror.
    I'm wondering if the holes would be the same if I did end up mounting on my 66
