Did you ever figure out an attachment fasteners for that grill welting? The split rivets are worthless. I don't have the original spring rivets

Hammer them against a heavy metal backing block, so that the tips spread and also curl back around.

Or get or make one of the tools.

All of the grills I've seen didn't use sprit rivets for the bottom felt. They used a twisted type of nail. Kind of what you see in a furniture store. Not sure that was factory original, but the fact that all the ones I've seen had it make me think it was factory. I doubt any one bothered to replace it. I just finished replacing mine with the original nails after refurbishing them.

The felt I got from grainer that I posed earlier in this thread worked great.

The felt on the bottom was held on with a twisted tac hammered through the metal

Did that work out good? I am wanting to install my radiator and would like to get something in there that appears to be close to original.
