I go back and forth on whether this is a project or parts. The thing is IT'S ALL THERE. And unmolested. No scary weld jobs, treated lumber lift kits, swaps from unknown donors. Like any old jeep it'll need all brakes, u-joints, many seals, suspension, etc.

Because its so "fence-rowed" it'll need more body panels. A lot of the bad parts are things most projects replace anyhow.

See how bad I am at making this decision? To me they all should be saved, and are only a few pieces away from being awesome.

Heck no. It's hemmed in by a nice walnut tree behind, an old boat and field sprayer in front. Have to take my high lift jack next trip. At least get the wheels up out of the dirt so I can skid the front end around to drag it out by the side. Then I need to arrange a car trailer.

And I promised the wife I wouldnt park it in the driveway. So need to find a safe-house to stash it. At least until the SuperJeep is complete.

Cleared brush in advance of the extraction. Pulled the other fender. Hosed down front end bolts with PB Blaster.

Need to find a tub, or a wreck, or an abandoned project with a better body. Thinking about a YJ tub just for better chance at not being so rusted.

This Jeep has been parked for 25 years!

Tried turning the ignition key to unlock the steering but was unable to budge it. I'll give it a shot of ATF next trip. Is there a way to override the steering lock even with the key tumbler being stuck?

Disregard. Found a decent video on replacing turn signal switch. I saw what I needed to know.

Ok, big decision. Tonight I'm checking out a 1995 YJ with a 2.5L engine. Purpose is a possible donor tub, if not too far gone ( I dont mind SOME weld work).

I'm debating how to splice these two into the following:
    CJ front clip and dash
    CJ drivetrain
    CJ 258 engine
    YJ tub

Is it easier to graft a CJ7 front clip, engine, and drivetrain into a YJ, or put a YJ tub on a CJ7? Pretty sure the latter. Is the extra effort of the former worth getting a stronger frame and better springs (without a conversion)?

Jacked up four corners, filled in tire ruts. Not much "roll" in the drivetrain, sprayed PB Blaster on rotors.

Should have looked earlier. Lots of rust on rockers and springs viewed from oil fill. Spun pump with spare dist shaft. Gurgled but no flow to rockers that I could see. At least a buildable core. Ran to where itnwas parked, never chucked a rod or spun a bearing.

Also got the key working, reassembled top of column. So at least it can be steered, if the wheels will turn.

Chrome Laredo wheels actually pretty decent.

You should treat it like that guy "Jonathan W" on YT; he just adds spark and fuel (directly into the carb from a squirt bottle) and tries to get it turn over. He never throws money at anything first, you know, tear everything down buy a slew of new parts, or gives it an oil change. He makes sure it does have oil though but doesn't run it long enough for it to need coolant (especially if there is none), etc.

I say find another CJ-7 tub and don't turn it into a mongrel.
