304 Vs. 258 Advantages

    Ehh, you just haven't heard the right 6 cylinder rumble.


    I also doubt very seriously you can bore a 304v8 out .330 to make a 360, thats more than 5/16" of an inch. That motor would probably last about 10 minutes before it overheated and locked up.

    Guys, it looks like the OP has not been on the site for nearly a month. Maybe if he shows up, he could tell us what he decided.

    Mike is right, though I'm not sure anyone was seriously suggesting to bore out a 304. The 304 block is different from the 360 block since they used different cores at casting time. The cranks are the same, but there is not enough wall material to bore out a 304 to 360 cid. You could sleeve a 304 block to accept 360 pistons (or even 343 pistons for a 10:1 CR) but it would be way way more expensive than buying a 360 core engine. And you'd still have the 304 heads with their smaller valves.
