    not sure if commando seats are exactly the same as cj5 seats....but here are some comparisons I made with mine when I ordered the smittybilts. One of the smittybilts (driver I believe) would have bolted right in to my existing seat frames, but the passenger would have needed some modification.
    Another Ecj5 Seat Replacement Question...

    I installed a pair of those in my 1970 J/C just this last year. I ended up making some custom brackets. I am 6'-2" and the factory seats had my head such that my line of sight was in the upper 1/4 of the windshield so my new brackets lowered the seating position to a more acceptable height. I would have done this even if I had the originals reupholstered but... the local upholstery guy wanted $900.00 to re-do the originals so the Smitty's were plan B.
    The brackets were easy to make and they also allow me to sit a little further back from the steering wheel too.
    On the drivers side I used the original sliders and the passenger seat is still fixed in place, unfortunately the passenger side seat no longer flips forward.

    Wait Jackdog! I have an extra set of Smittybuilt lowbacks that are like brand new and have slider brackets. I took these out of my 72 so they will fit with their current brackets. I was set on highback seats with 3-point belts was my only reason for replacing them. You might actually be better off buying new seats locally at that price than to pay for the shipping on these from NM, but at a minimum, these brackets might be helpful to you.

    I haven't forgot that you so graciously sent me those hard to find parts for my doors, and it would be worth what little I'd get out of those seats on Craigslist to be able to repay the favor and spread the love here on ECJ5.

    Only picture I have currently is of the driver's side bracket- obviously modified by some PO to fit a Commando, (I'd have made it prettier) but not horribly done at all. (The passenger side bracket does fold forward I think)

    let me know.

    Thanks so much for the offer KeyserSoSay. I think I have everything I need as far as the seat project.

    10-4, I may sell the seats locally but plan to keep the brackets for other Commando owners here on the ECJ5 who might find themselves in the same boat later.
