    Tim,

Wouldn't delaying power to the coil during starting simply mask too much advance for the CR? Would less advance at idle be a better solution? I'm thinking of old Harley kickers that had a retarder for starting to prevent kick-back.

I have the dui distributor. It turns over just as good cold as it does hot. No kickback from ignition timing. I really thought the heat spacer would help with it but it didnt. I'm still learning with these old motors and carbs.

Have you rebuilt this carb? Maybe you should? I'm wondering if you have a carb leak that makes you super rich after sitting a spell. Maybe a tiny power valve leak? Power valve failures are pretty common on some carbs.

No power valve on this carb, and no gaskets below the fuel level. There's literally no way for fuel to leak out unless the main body were cracked or something weird like that.

Eliminate their filter in the stainless line you mentioned earlier.T ry the above filter, straight from your fuel line , out to your carb. Hook your return fuel return hose to the other port , at the top of the new filter. Turn your fuel pressure down to < 5 PSI. Try a better brand of gas . Drive for a few miles with this OEM setup. I'm betting that your new carb & engine are gonna like it !
