After getting all the parts I need in I finally can make some progress

I got all new valves and got them in. The exhaust valve retainers were easy, for some reason the intake retainers got me to the point of wanting to stick a screwdriver in my eye

Freeze out plugs in. A bit of sealer first

Clearances are correct using the plastigage for the main bearings so some assembly lube and the crank is in

Today I got the pistons in, valves adjusted to 0.014, oil pump and pan on, sprayed the head gasket with copper gasket and got that on and torqued down, also exhaust and Intake manifolds on

I believe she's ready to go, just have to get it off the stand to get the housing and clutch on . My father was a pilot when he was younger so I had some fun with the fan

Well she's put back together, I'm back where I was 2 months ago but with a fresh engine. Now I wait for the starter. A lot of time to think if I torqued everything correctly, if I missed a part, did I leave a socket in the cylinder ?? Oh hum

Hey john, is that upper radiator hose kinked? It sort of looks like it in the pic. Amazing job by the way!

No. Not kinked. I just had to twist it a bit to make it work with the aftermarket radiator

    So here are my woes
The motor fired right up and ran excellent, however, no oil pressure. Shut her right down. I tried everything and nothing worked so I dropped the pan and pulled the oil pump. Took it apart and filled with vaseline. I never took off the distributor so I assumed.....yeah I know.....it went back in the same teeth. Got it al together took the plugs out and cranked the motor......still no pressure..... put the plugs in and now it won't start so obviously timing is off, but pump should still prime with cranking but it doesn't. So tomorrow the pan comes off again, try to time it right with the pump, but I'm not sure why I can't get pressure so I'm going to try sending oil under pressure into the oil galley thru the sender hole.

I'm not liking this truck at the moment, its fighting me every step. I fox something just to create a other problem, should stick with CJ's

So its been determined that the reason have no oil pressure is that the machine shop put the rear cam bearing in backwards

    How it is
