Pay careful attention to metalshaper's video about how the hubs and key go on, he talks about the mistakes that cause them to crack.

Found this on a search. Everything comes apart with a BANG just like the descriptions and video. I am having difficulty removing the rear axle on my 60 CJ5. Metalshaper speaks of a puller and then says he will demo building one. I didn't see that in the video.
Any thoughts on what type of puller to use or is there another Metalshaper video describing pulling the axle?

I've had some luck putting the hub on the axle, threading the nut on several threads without the washer, and using the hub itself as a slide hammer. Works well is the axle isn't too stuck. If it's really stuck a puller will be required.

I've put on the nut and washer and used a slide hammer to grab the washer and pull the axle.

I used a flaps loaner slide hammer to pull my shafts for the locker install.
You will need to pull the flange off (slide hammer and castle nut loose) take the brakes off then put the flange back on (no key) to pull the shaft with the slide.
