Here you can see the "Z" bracket which bolts to the bottom of the trans and then properly places the rubber trans mount that you ordered which will then will properly place the cross-member.

There can't be any oil in the T case or tranny yet.

As soon as I got the new rubber insulator part all the light bulbs went on, and things make sense. My rubber insulator has broken in half. One half was still on the transmission and the other half was in a pile of rusty discarded parts. When I saw the part intact I could see how the top bolts on to the bracket on the bottom of the transmission and the bottom sits on the crossmember, with 2 screws that hold it in place. Thanks to all for the input. I got the snubber for the transfer case too. With those things in place I should be able to determine exactly where the engine perches need to go, and I can weld them in. I would have it done already but one of the bolt hex heads that attach the old mount to the transmission is rounded off, and I don't have the right extractor to get it off. Yet. I will have one soon. :)
