Ok I'm wooped. I've tried over and over to (upload?) put a pic in my media place according to the help section on Adding Media. I cant't do it from my picture files (to big) and i've tried to ddrag the image from Google pics over and drop it. I even made up my own album to put it in but nothing seams to work. Should I use another hosting site? what is the best one to use. Photo Bucket is'nt free anymore is it? I'm about to go caveman on this PC. I cant tell what my Dif is in my D44 rear end '64 cj5 but I don't think its a LSD of any sort. HELP ME Mr Wizard!

I use "Beaming Pix" for a picture hosting site. The price is very fair, the system work flawlessly and the owner/administrator is a pretty cool Jeep guy.

There is some drag-and-drop capability in the site today, but the pictures can't be very big. Resize to say 640x400 or 800x600, which are a pretty good size for posting online, and you should be able to drag and drop. I use a utility called PixResizer but there are plenty of free programs online that will shrink your pics so you can post them. Your digital camera or cell phone will make a huge picture (like 4k square or larger) unless you go into settings and tell the device to save a smaller image when you snap the shot.

Or host online somewhere and post a link to the picture.

A '64 would have gotten a Dana PowerLock from the factory, if LSD equipped.

THX timgr, I'm going to try Beaming Pix per OzFin's guidence. Nope, thats not it. there are nocomponents visible that suggests its an LSD. There are strengthening fingers behind the bolts on a semicone shaped spool opposite the ring gear. I hope to post the pic soon.

Thats good to know, I just figured there might be some excessive tire wear or maybe some tire chatter while taking corners since the wheels turn at the same speed all the time. I havn't really driven a jeep on the street much. Thanks Scott. I understand thats the way to go off road so I'm Happy

You are thinking of a spool. Automatic lockers only lock up under power, forward or reverse. They unlock around corners (normally) when not on the throttle. They can be a bit harsh unlocking depending on the locker and conditions.

Detroits do have a rep for being noisy & grabby, especially the earlier ones. The one I had had been removed because the things it did going around corners was driving him nuts.

Had a locker in a samurai. It would unlock and lock in the corners and was quite noticeable. It would chirp the tires. I liked it but had to get used to it.

Yes. Any automatic locker and most limited slips have quirks the driver must be aware of. That is why most locker and limited slip manufacturers provide warning stickers to install on the dash of vehicles when the traction aiding differential is installed. Handling quirks are part of the equation unless a selectable locker is installed. Of course most of those stickers get relegated to a shop refrigerator or similar instead of where they are supposed to go.
