So when i replace the drive shaft i notice some loose on the rear bushing on my radius arm set-up. The big " C " Bushing was worn out and i was having around 1/4" of free play.

So saturday morin decided to put new one (i was having a spare set). But the thing i dislike to most on ford radius arm is the bolt that hold the two part together seize over time (7 years since last dissembly). So on both arm i broke 4 bolt out of 8 and 3 bolts out of the 4 that hold the coil braket.

So for a job that need 2 hours, it took me about 6 hours. And for those who may suggest heating...i was 6" under the gaz tank, i and i don't wanted to pull the whole axle from under the jeep).

Been a while since i didn't upgrade a thing on the jeep...

So time from a little upgrade for the amc 360.

Been searching the past few week's about cfm. I did swap out 5 years ago a AFI system on the jeep. Back them i didn't like the adapter for the tbi to 2bbl cast intake. Been looking for the max CFm the intake could take and i found out that 2bbl cast iron intake have a max of 300 cfm. The tbi unit is rated for 470 cfm and can go up to 570cfm if i switch to a 454 unit (with the 350 injector). I always dislike my engine for the lack of power above the 3000 rpm mark.

So i decided to buy the proformer aluminium intake with square bore patern.

So you can see the restriction the adapter plate as compared to the edlebroke one.

First thing is take off the old intake....was happy to have the engine crane working at this height ahah

The aluminium intake is easy to work on, with since it doesnt weight more than 20 pounds. First thing is too look for a perfect fit.

I dont know why but the shop that rebuilt my engine 8 years ago didn't put back the oil baffle that is riveted to the bottom of the intake. At that moment i start worried since i was close in time because i use the jeep to plow around my house...so time is generaly not very long between two snowfall.

So while searching for the necessity of the oil baffle i found on another forum a method used by a long time amc engine rebuilder. I said he have use this method over 100 engines and never have an issus in 30 years.

So after the oil baffle problem solve it was just time consuming to put everything back on the engine.

Fired up the engine after a 24 hours sit (to let gasket dry) and didnt have any issues. Road test show a good difference in the 3000+rpm :)

    Another little project today.

Take off the radiator so i can have the radiator shop to weld me a 3/8" npt bong near the outlet.

I have a hard time setting the electronic control for my fan. Talk with a good friend of mine that work at the rad shop and told me he always put the sensor near the outlet of the rad. There is more change in the temp than on top of engine or the thermostat housing. It will be easier to set the on/off with the rad coolant temp.

Hi guy's been a while since i came here. Been working a lot to making my business survive those hard time.

Had a major failure on my amc 360 back in september. Had a valve that broke down in the head and the piston broke appart.

I bring the engine to where i had rebuilt 9 years ago and price are almost twice what i paid in 2011.

I plan to run a th350 behind the 5.3 and use my dana 20 transfert case.
The th350 is getting a rebuilt and a shift kit that will keep the transmission in first speed when i have the shifter in first position.

Here's the shifter i'm going to use. I wanted something easy to shift and being able to know wich position you are (my girlfriend will be happy)

My son has a 2005 5.3 in his 1968 Nova. He loves it. We sent the PCM out to get it tuned to the car. When he first started it it cranked maybe twice and roared to life, so easy. Good luck and I'll be watching this thread.

First fit in the jeep. Have a throwback on the adapter i was suppose to get for the th350/dana 20.

but was able to get it where i wanted it with one the transmission bolted onto engine.

Engine is smaller in lenght so its easy to compensate for the added lenght of the transmission. Pretty sure i will be able to have the transfert case at same place it use to be.

    7D3099D1-FF2C-400B-B69F-12C958B5E7ED.jpeg

Only issu right know is some steering shaft clearance with the headers. I want the engine sit further on driver side. A headers modification should be easily done by a professionnal welder.

Little modification was needed to hook the throttle and kickdown cable to the 5.3 throttle body. Now just need to trim it to the right length.
