After for literally years telling anyone who would listen to use SS studs & brass nuts on their exhaust manifolds I've come to find out you can't easily obtain F4 sized ss studs which are 3/16 NF on the outside end & NC into the block o_O

So a couple of weeks ago I bought some ss 3/16 nc bolts & proceeded to convert them into studs on the lathe. :D

Except that it turns out cutting threads in SS is a pain in the a$$ :(, I've lost track of how many cutter inserts I busted but I had to make a run to buy a bunch of new ones before I could finish the job.

But I persevered & ended up with something minimally acceptable.

Next- buy some of those nifty extra long brass exhaust nuts.

Except as it turns out they don't exist in 3/8" NF thread, only NC. :steamed: (Note- they were used on a few mid-60's Jags, good luck finding some)

So I bit the bullet , shelled out for some 9/16" brass hex rod & cranked out my own.

    Enjoy.

Note the broken cutter left over from making the studs-

All done, polished & pretty. The darker one is one of the NF variety which are common as dirt.

    Doesn't that look nice? :)
