Shake and shoot morning. This afternoon I was able to install the trans cover, shifter boots and hold downs.

I agree, I’ve had their 700r4 to Dana 300 adapter on my CJ for about 20 years with zero issues.

Getting ready to swap in the Champion radiator on the '69. I found out the 231 has a much longer water pump than the 225 and the fan would have been less than a half inch from the new 4-row radiator. There is a good thread on this site that discusses the lengths.

Ordered a 225 water pump, bought a pulley on Ebay, and a 1/2 spacer from Summit racing. This should get me where I need to be. Have the new water pump on, should get the radiator in tomorrow.

Radiator installation failure today. The Champion radiator is going to take some fitting. The mounting brackets are sub-flush from the tanks, so the tanks hit the grill shroud before the brackets tighten. 5/16" spacers needed for that. Ripped some wood ones on the table saw for fitting, but need to get some aluminum or delrin for final items. I'm afraid the wood ones will split.

With the front-to back spacing fixed, the radiator cap hits the hood. New holes drilled to lower the radiator 3/8". Then it hits a brake line clip on the front cross-frame. The clip is moveable, but now the original radiator screws and nut-clips are too short to use with spacers. Time to order some hardware.

...and with all that, it's thicker at the bottom tank than the original radiator, so I can't use the 1/2" fan spacer I was planning on. Remove the spacer and the fan hits the vacuum advance so I'll need to rotate the distributor 2 cylinders to make some room.

Yay for simple projects like replacing the radiator.

Turned the engine by hand on the '47 truck just to see if it still spun after sitting for 12 years. Happy that it spun. I filled up the cylinders long ago and would spin it from time to time when it first went into storage but that stopped long ago.

Hoping to get it running this summer. Need a gas tank and carb rebuild to start with. Might go to Petronix too. We'll see.

I bought some spring perches for the 49 pickup but they weren't the right diameter....so we made em the right size and tacked them into place. I don't trust our little 110 welder or my son's welding ability (he's just learning to weld) so we'll get one of the guys at my work to finish welding them on.

Decided to finally get back into this build, started off pulling grill to get some room, and pulling the radiator since it's leaking. Putting the Mapco A/C bracket on and flipping the alt as soon as I get the bracket painted.

Spent money today. Found some NOS T-90C gears for my trans. Also picked up a 9 1/4" clutch assembly. Another step closer!

Today I sent my dana 30 axle shafts out to get the seal surfaces polished, and my flywheel to get resurfaced. The machine shop called and said he needs oil and a filter to prime my rebuilt engine, so I think my dauntless is almost done too.

I did some brainstorming about building a full float dana 44, and think I'm going to go that route with the dana 25 spindles that will be swapped out soon.

Things are progressing so much more during this covid stay-at-home thing, and I'm getting excited to put get the jeep running again. I wish I had a few more bucks that I could throw at it, but progress is progress.

Great night! After 3 evenings of staring at wiring diagrams and scratching my head, I got all the lights and turn signals functioning. Reverse, parking, markers, stop, head, tail, left, and right. Front lights don’t blink when the light switch is on, but that’s tomorrow’s problem.

Follow up on previous post - cleaned up bell housing and found huge cracks all the way through. Bought a “new” one on eBay. All parts are here now. Clutch, trans, and t-case back in this coming weekend.

Laid the first coat of primer on the OBA bracket and tensioner/arm thing for the alternator. Once it's all cured, the touch up priming will get done tomorrow and hopefully start painting it black.

Front parking lights blinked with the blinker on, but stayed on when the lights were on. Swapped the input wires to the lamp and fixed it. Also added a hazard flasher. Only lighting remainder is to install a new dimmer switch for the one that has been bypassed. Clutch, tranny, t-case reinstall tomorrow. It drove well 2 weeks ago, let’s hope it does again soon. Big day coming up!

Got the clutch installed and put in a new windshield gasket while waiting for RTV to set up between tranny and t-case. Get those put in tomorrow.

I received cans of engine paint and put them in the garage. I'll paint when it is not raining. Ended up with Chrysler blue. Could not find Pontiac blue in a spray can. I hopefully finished the list of parts needed to complete the drivetrain.

Got Tonk's engine back in, only took 40 minutes of wiggling to get things meshed, way better than I expected. :)
