Silly Jason:rofl:, it's just a matter of just doin it:bananatool:, Thank you for the link~ guess I'll be going the route of the HEI:shock:

OK, removed the 3/4 body cushion things, removed the 1/2" worth of shims from between the trans crossmember and frame, the used some choice cuss words to adjust the radiator support and I'll be danged~ I think it's going to be ok:cry:

Actually guess there was nothing wrong with using the thicker body to frame cushions
    [IMG]

now the radiator is leaning a teesney wency bit towards the engine vs a toncy woncy the other direction.

Looks great now! I'm curious how much you'd actually notice it once the fenders are mounted and you're looking from a bit more "overhead" view. But, I think you made the right move getting rid of the crossmember drop spacers unless you end up needing them for drivetrain alignment or body interference.

Ain't it the truth! I'm getting kind of excited about not too long from now~ getting onto the body work, hm, not really, still have to finish the steering gear mounting and buy a darned steering column:whistle: The Novak headers are supposed to be here tomorrow~ omg, I hope they fit:cry:

Do I really need a tilt column? I thought driving my brothers jeep wasn't noticeable with the stock column/large steering wheel. However with power steering:bananatool:, I wouldn't need a large steering wheel. Just that all steering columns are large in the tube diameter. I need some thought here fellas:shrug: I have to figure I'll probably be having to cut the column to fit my needs. So it would need a DD shaft, not a spline. Decisions decisions :blah:

I'm going to have to get a new column too once I get to that point in my project, so I've thought about it quite a bit.

While you won't need such a large diameter wheel with power steering, to me it sort of "makes" the jeep experience, just as rowing through the gears does. I'd still want a big 'ol school bus wheel.

Well, how about a not-so-large wheel? lol But you're right, it's a temptation to steal away the mystique associated with the old jeeps and "modernize" them, whilest in that case, just buy a newer jeep, then that defeats the whole purpose of having an "old jeep"~ that being said, I'll go with the column mentioned and "think" about steering wheels:whistle:

you don't have a steering column now? Buying "original looking" steering may cost as much as after market. I'm using a steering assembly from a '74 CJ5 for my '47 2A. Steering from DJ-5's work well and Jeepster Commandos with Saginaw P/S maybe a good candidate. The after market column you showed will work too.

I have a fuel pump question(oh Good morning:rofl:!). I may have received an answer
On the pump there is the inlet, the pump outlet and the last smaller one~ where does it go? Is it a return to the gas tank, do I block it off? OK, beautiful day here, hope to get some good stuff done! ;)

Good Day to ya, small line is the return to tank line. One may roll their eyes on this but, I use/used 1/4" black swamp cooler hose.....which works VERY WELL. it does not deteriorate. Air brake line works well for return AND fuel. makes routing lines a snap. Just keep it away from high heat. Jeepster Commandos used it Lines ran from rear center of intake manifold down the center of the floor board tunnel to the tank.

Alert Alert~!!! The Novak headers arrived:bananatool:! I've never had such a thing of beauty in all my car restorations!~ this sets me to a level of elegance (for lack of better words)~ this will make me strive even more so to have a Super Jeep!

Thank you Dayne and your incredible fabricators!!

and I was worried about steering shaft clearance , I have all the room necessary:D

This one here, I'll trim off a little bit of the flange; it clears, but I'll remove it just to be safe, then a mini-starter might be a good thing;) The flange of the jeep frame, not the header

Gee Scott, that looks factory and looks great:D! Is that the stock metal dash? cadillac? What led you to finding it? Is the tilt of the column same as the stock or is it more slanted(for lack of better description)Thank you!

You shouldn't need to trim anything on them. When I worked on the design with Eric at Novak - the starter clearance was one of the items I pushed as they didn't fit right at the start. It's also why they come down at slightly different angles than the driver side.

Steering columns from early Cherokee's work great in our CJ's . Just find the pre air bag ones at the parts yard. Tilt is always nice , 'specialy at my waist size !.... Oh yeah, here's my GM column :

Have you already figured out the routing for exhaust pipes?

I'll take a better picture, I would be just trimming the metal off of the metal of the engine support~ again, I'll get a better pic.
So, the factory starter will work OK, but would a mini-starter be best and if so, any ideas of brands? ;)

Gee, that's looks nice too! is the stock dash used already in our jeeps, or do you change out the metal dash as well?
