So, now that I've decided to make the blue parts fc my summer work car, (providing we all go back to work by then) I spent yesterday taking all the plow junk off of it. it is finally getting warm enough to not mind laying on the cold concrete and getting full of rust and other debris.
tonight i may do some more of the disk brake conversion. the MC is mounted, now its just a matter of putting the metcalf conversion in and running new lines.

Used to be a house I drove by that had 2 Forward Controls sitting there. Always thought they were super cool.
This thing is looking good. I love to see these things saved.
    Keep at it.

I just listed to see if any response would happen. Lots of flakes, a few want them. I'm not ready to sell...just testing the waters.

About a month or so ago, The guy up the road with the restored FC gave me his selling price, but isn't quite ready to let it go. However, when he is ready to sell, he will call me first. So no worries, I'm still working little by little every day on the blue one

nothing too spectacular to report. finally loading up the original, red, wide track-high hood FC cab that started it all. taking it to my friends house up north for him to fix up for me this year. if nothing else, this will give me incentive to get going on the mechanical's of it!

well, not sure if i'm sad to report this....but i'm throwing in the towel on these 2 rebuilds. the guy i have been buying parts from the past 2 years called me Sunday, and said i'm ready to sell if you are interested. if not, i'm going to put it on E-bay.
after chatting with him, i thanked him for my call, saying i need to think it over.

told the wife about the call but i wasnt sure i wanted to spend that much. i tell you guys, she INSISTED i buy it. but honey, i have 2 already! she said it will take you 10 years to get one together, and if you buy 10 mostly scrap ones for 1000 bucks or so a piece, you are already money ahead buying one assembled and ready to drive.

who am i to argue with my better half? with tail between my legs, and cash in hand, i went to buy my brand new 1959 FC-150. Happy wife, Happy life.

a guy is coming tonight to buy the two projects and all the new parts i bought for rebuilding them.

my wife said i need keep the spare windshield just in case. again, who i am to argue against such sage advice?

so, hopefully now i can help out the FC community.
i am going to laser scan my new front lower corners, the rounded ones that are almost always all smashed up and rusted out, or missing on just about every one left in the world, and then im going to try and get a set printed here at work. going to talk to the guy that runs the metal printer here at work about a government job, just as a trial for myself.
if they work, perhaps i can find a source that can print them cheap enough to be viable.
everybody wants a set, but nobody wants to pay for them. Brian, from the "metalshaper" youtube channel found that out the hard way. he hand crafted some lovely panels, then got so many complaints from customers about his perfect panels not fitting the bent up rusty junk that people owned, that he just flat out refuses to make them for people anymore.
