I reckon that's why it's so easy to use.
The mix ratio is very forgiving, too strong and it just does the job faster without damaging anything along the way.

I am using one of those 1000 litre chemical transport pods with the top chopped off.
Half filled with water and about 50 litres of molasses mixed in.

    Rebuilt the rear diff today.
New bearings all through and new seals.
A job I don't enjoy is working on the diffs, it always leaves me wondering if I have done everything correctly.

Pinion, is it too tight or too loose, did I measure the rotation force required correctly.
    Backlash measures OK.
Is the tooth contact good enough????
Will it blow up once I get up to highway speed??
What if it has a whining noise??

I know that exact feeling. It's an art form, and my hat's off to guys who set them up every day. I've done probably 10 sets of truck/Jeep axles in my lifetime, as well as a number of farm tractors and they've all been quiet and no issues. I never really know it's going to be quiet until it's completely finished and driven on the road though.

I hope the diff will be OK.
I've continued on and assembled the axles back into the chassis and completed the brakes.

All new brake parts that matter are going in like the wheel cylinders and lines.
I'll also be installing a boosted type of brake master cylinder mostly for convenience (already have one in mind to use) and I did it in the first CJ5 I did and it would stop brilliantly.

Missed a couple of hub seals in the order I did earlier so off to see the local bearing place tomorrow.
I picked the spindle seals instead of the hub seals.

Decided to fit power steering in this as well.
Will make it easier for the bride to drive it and it is a bit more of an enjoyable experience off road as well.
Got a jeep steer box lined up out of a xj cherokee, and a refurbished toyota pump in the random parts box so I will see what I can do to make that work.

Not sure if the original steering column will work with a smaller aftermarket steering wheel though?

If you get an entire second build completed before I finish my first one, I’m gonna be upset. :D

Someone better get their finger out if they don't want to be left behind....:p

Have had a little break from the jeep due to excessive heatwave conditions but now the weather has started to settle down.
We have even had some good rain that has knocked a lot of the bush fires out so that is a good thing.

Finalised the brake setup and ran some new brake lines to be ready for when the body comes on.

But the main news is that the engine is back together and installed onto the chassis.

Tomorrow I will set up some temporary fuel supply and run the motor just to make sure everything is back together OK.

Primed the oil to the top of the engine before setting the dizzy up so it should be set to jet.

    Small update.

Have gotten the engine running OK after a bad batch of fuel caused heaps of issues.
New carby has helped as well.

Exhaust fitted, fuel tank checked, cleaned and installed, new fuel lines done.
Power steering from a XJ cherokee installed.

Made some decisions about going full on to set this one up for off road from the get go.

    So.
Got 33 inch tyres on the rims.
Next step is to pull the rear diff apart and install an electric locker.

Then the body work will begin.

Plan to do some rear wheel arch storage again.

Body work has commenced on the weekend just gone.

Have had a few issues pop up, with the gearbox rear main bearing needing replacement and not being able to find one very easily.
Trying to get the engine running better as well has eaten up some time.

Even rockauto does not list the T14 rear bearing 1207LOE. 80mm OD X 30mm ID.
So I have one on the way from the Netherlands.

Electric locker went into the diff easy enough.

So far the rear floor sections have been removed and replaced with chequer plate.
The entire sub frame sections will also be replaced.

While pulling it all apart I noticed the CJ6 has a large vacant area under the floor directly behind the cabin floor.

Possible location for a long range fuel tank I think to myself.

Could fill it from the existing hole in the left side panel.

I'll be raising the body off the chassis a little so I don't think the tail shaft will be anywhere near it.

Any thoughts on if it is a good or bad idea?
    Has it been done before?
    Opinions?

Do you put disc brakes instead of the drums? You are gifted and it seems easy.
And, by the way, Australia is not far from Philippines where a producer of body parts for Jeep, Juan I believe, exists, can be a source for you.
I leave all this to the specialists in the forum. You make a wonderful work.

Not going to do disc brakes on this one Alan.
I will be putting in a brake booster master cylinder though, to replace the original non boosted master cylinder.

The Aust. importer for the MD Juan bodies is around 2 hours away from me.

I have not needed to use them as yet.

Been working on the body for the last few weekends.

Lots more to repair than I anticipated. As always.

I knew I had to replace the bottom sills along with the floors.

But I have been finding that the previous owner was a dab hand with the body filler.
What I thought was nice straight panels ended up being filled with 1/4" of bog.

And once we start looking closely at the hidden corners and overlapping joints even more shows up.

Plus discovering more that are hidden by filler.

But we have a plan to get rid of some of the rusty stuff.

Did all the rust repairs and prime painted to stop it all rusting again.

The rear of the wheel arches demanded some storage bins to carry tools, jack and assorted gear in a secure container.

So I made a section that fills in behind the arch of the wheel, Down around 7" on the fuel filler side and 11" on the other side.

Removal of some of the existing bracing is required.

Extend the inner panel of the mudguard to be level with, and also weld in a U channel around the existing gunnel of the body.
A panel across the top of the mudguard completes the boxing.

Add some rubber seal to weatherproof, and a lid that hinges along the long edge plus a cam lock.

Before we went too far with the repair work, we sat it on the chassis to see how it will all look once the body sits over those 33 inch donuts.

The bride will need some footsteps to be able to get in.

Thinking we will make up some rock sliders and incorporate steps into those.

Great job creating those storage bins on the wheel wells!
