Can Someone Confirm This Is The Right Fuel Pump?

    Correct original pump is AC 40001.

    When you take the old pump off, good to inspect the camshaft eccentric that drives the pump for wear. They are known to get a big groove worn in them.

    Yeah that I'm not sure of. I've heard of some doing it this way so I guess I'm hoping it'll work with mine also. If not then I'll end up removing the electric pump rather than plumbing both separately.

    My ‘66 has the 3 line pump(not saying it’s original). If you have the return line in place there isn’t much downside to using it. Why Jeep added the return line in later models could be better explained by others. My understanding is that it eliminates vapor lock.

    Ive thought about doing both. I went to replace my faulty electric with putting a mechanical back in. I have heard of running both but also heard there is a risk if of the electric pumping fuel into the crankcase if the mechanical seal fails.

    That's exactly what happened to me when my original mechanical pump failed. Took a while to diagnose it and figure it out, but I switched to electric after that and now back to both.

    I don't trust the electric long term, but I like using it as a primer to avoid hard starting.

    Thanks, I ended up going with one of the earlier recommendations in this thread with a return line just because that's what my FSM shows. Everything seems good now, I'm happy with how it's running

    So do you use them together in line? Then have a switch on dash?
