I am thinking about selling the big old Warn winch that came on the Jeep ..... can somebody tell me what it is worth ..... it worked when it was sat up 18 years ago, but I took it off before I checked it.

    THANKS for any help.

I’ve never seen one for under $800 around here in any condition. But it’s like crazyland out here for stuff like that.

There are several on my local CL for 800+ that never seem to sell. 500 seems to be the going rate in my area for an old 8274.

Thanks guys, but all the rave over it, and I think I will keep it and restore it .... IF I can afford to .... money is very tight right now.

Good call, I think. They're not super rare, but it really is a very clear benchmark in quality. I only buy Warn winches, since I figure it's one of those tools that I'll need to work with 100% reliability when I actually need it. I would tuck it away and save up to send it back to WARN for refurbishing, maybe? OR maybe call them and ask if they can tailor their work to your budget.

Good call. That winch may be old, but it is hands down one of if not most dependable winch around it is also a lot faster than most modern ones. They are pretty easy to rebuild as well.

I second keeping it. I have one on my Nissan and another in a winch cradle that goes in a receiver hitch. Best electric winch ever made.

Last time I looked they were $1800. I have always wanted one. Had the cash in hand once for a new one. Then life gets in the way..

Yeah, same here. I was honestly floored at how much Warn wants for these now.

A friend a while back showed up and had one in the back of his truck.. It was in rough shape but usable. He asked me about how good it was. Said he paid $50 for it. Shoulda offered him $100.

My winch can't be an 8274 .... they didn't come out until 1974 and mine is 1972
