Where To Have My Venting Windshield Restored?

Alright guys, finally back and settled in from deployment and one of the first things I want to have done is to get my venting windshield restored. The inner frame is rotted out in multiple places but the glass is stable and it's in one piece. It currently has American Bosch electric wipers that I don't really need, I'd be happy to convert to manual wiper arms if possible or just ditch the wipers because I don't drive this Jeep in the rain. Does anyone know of a shop in the Southern California area (I'm in San Clemente, equal distance to Los Angeles and San Diego) that would be able and willing to take on restoring my inner windshield frame? I know Debella has the hardware, hinges and such in stock but I'm currently not equipped to handle fabricating the lower part of the inner windshield frame myself.

If this is in the wrong section please move it for me!

I have a vent windshield and I changed 1 window, ordered it. There are some offers of full windshield and maybe it would be easier to change all. It seems really rusted.

Edit: the reason I wish to have it restored is that I don't believe the actual inner frame is available for purchase from anywhere, unless I'm mistaken (which would be splendid). It seems like a pretty straightforward job, but I lack the tools out here in CA to do it on my own. I can get everything taken care of except actually fabricating the inner frame myself, the seals and such are all available from Debella and I have many options to choose from for custom glass here in SoCal.

The cross section of the inner frame is a thin tubing crimped down into an "H" shape. This would be very difficult to replicate. The inner frame is hollow (and likely not painted inside so it rusts). I would be suprised if anyone can 'restore" a partially rusted out one of these frames. Looking for an original for parts would be best, but they are not that common.

I looked into building my own inner frame several years back, from parts that were being used on a classic VW bus forum. Six or seven years back, someone was having some brass extrusion made up in an "H" shape to make operable "splitty" front windshield frames. I think the brass stock was made, but never followed up on buying any. The VW aftermarket began supplying overseas reproduction frames, which is where things still are today. These may be a viable source for repair sections for the Jeep frames, though I don't think the profile is the same. You might look toward the early VW bus market for possible frame stock.

I wouldn't give up on having it worked on by a good metal shop. I am not privy to how it is constructed, but looking at it from your pics it looks like it could be laser or water jet cut and fabricated in sections. Metal shops can do wondrous things now a days. Not sure of the cost, but....

Check this out...it's possible...If this guy can do something a shop could do it better. Also, i have used and worked with local FFA Highschool welding class kids to do some great work on other projects. At least in our area its a big deal. We have had some welders go to national competitions over the years. You may want to even try to work with community colleges or trade schools as those teachers are often looking for projects for students. I know now, the school systems are a bit wacked but worth a try for a resource. At least those instructors will know locals looking for some money or work.

 

Thanks for the replies! My goal was just to fabricate it myself and have some custom glass cut but all of my tools are back in NY 3000 miles away save for a few hand tools. It's such a simple item I'm sure I could do it myself given the proper tools. I was just planning on cutting two flat pieces and sandwiching the glass and seals between them, perhaps with a spacer to ensure it didn't get too tight. I suppose I'll figure it out.

 

Update: found a shop to do it! West Coast Auto, San Clemente, right down the street.
