I am putting on new leaf springs on my CJ3B , they are 1.75 inches wide. I bought new pivot bolts but the are a little longer than stock. It appears that when they are tightened up with the castle nut the cotter pin will be way above the nut and not be effective.

Anyone have a source for the correct bolts for this situation?

    Thanks

Washers? Wouldn't the cotter pin keep the nut from completely backing off?

I recently ordered grade 8, 7/16 x 3" fine thread bolts and nyloc nuts from mcmaster carr, they worked fine for the pivot bolts for my jeep. The shackle bolts needed to be 3.5" long however, as my heavy duty shackles are too thick.

Measure the length you need and order them from a place like McMaster Carr. Not all used castellated nut. Many used Marsden locking nuts.

These are Crown Automotive and are 3 1/4 inches long. Regular bolts would lose the ability to grease them for the bronze bushing.

This would have been good information to know from the beginning. Lots of information and time wasted because of lack of initial correct information.
